Introducing the STEPS Charity WonderWall.
The STEPS Charity WonderWall will feature a beautiful and inspiring mural, painted across a 9 metre wide by 1.8 metre tall feature wall at the front of the STEPS Pathways College extension. This beautiful mural will capture the wonderful spirit of the STEPS Pathways College students both past and present and create an opportunity to add even more colour and beauty into this incredible program.
You can pledge your support for as little as $250 and become part of something truly meaningful in your community. You can help to shape the lives of many young adults living with a disability and permanently be recognised for your immense generosity with your name or brand featured on our honour board next to the WonderWall. We are a powerful local community, with a far reaching national focus, who support those who need us most. If you’ve ever felt like giving back to this amazing community we all call home, now is your time to be a part of something special.
The STEPS Charity WonderWall is designed to help raise much needed funds for the extension of the STEPS Pathways College. The idea for the College was conceived to fill a gap in the needs of people with a disability and their families.
We found that while many people with a disability had the capacity to learn the skills that would see them living independently, there were no educational programs available in which students could learn these life skills in a way that would transform their life.
The reality of low-level services and supports was concerning for parents who worried what would happen to their children with disabilities when they were no longer there to care for them. They worried there weren’t enough of the right opportunities for them to build their capacity and take their place as a natural part of society. Enter, the STEPS Pathways College.
An Australian first, the STEPS Pathways College features an onsite boarding program as well as a day program and new online learning program which teaches young adults living with a disability the essentials skills to lead independent lives. Essential skills such as cooking, cleaning and shopping that many of us take for granted in our day to day lives.
Such a success the College program has been, STEPS saw their first cohort graduate in 2019 in what can only be described as an incredibly proud and heart warming event for everyone involved. Off the back of this success and demand for spaces at the College, STEPS is extending the Pathways College and now more than ever we are calling on our local everyday heroes in our community to get behind the cause to help us build brighter futures for these young adults living with disabilities.
We’re calling on donations to support the build. We have engaged the talent and skills of a local artist to help bring this vision to life in a painted mural on the WonderWall.
