STEPS staff raise money for Team Tober
STEPS staff across the country have been busy raising money for STEPS Charity this month as a part of our annual organisation-wide staff fundraising initiative Team Tober.
Our departments from Darwin to Hobart, and everywhere in between, have eagerly jumped on board.
All of our Team Tober dollars will help to create brighter futures for people with a disability.
STEPS Charity Manager Angela Miles said the donations will go a long way to supporting the Charity’s current project STEPS Pathways.
“Every dollar we raise will help buy things like beds, couches, linens, cooking equipment, plates and cutlery- all the things that make us feel comfortable in our own homes,” she said.
The Pathways Project will provide opportunity for 11 young people with a disability to learn the skills needed to live independently over 12 months of intensive training. Students live while they learn at the STEPS Pathways College designed to reflect an independent living environment where they will experience independent living before they step out on their own.
Team Tober has seen plenty of exciting fundraising ideas this year from sausage sizzles to fancy tea parties, 5 cent coin collections and grand Christmas hampers.
A huge thank you to all the staff, local businesses and members of the public who have donated so far.
With the last week of October straight ahead of us, we’re sure to see more fun and activities adding coins to the fundraising tallies.
